Behavioral Health Treatment

Learn more about behavioral health treatment at Detroit Behavioral Institute in Michigan

Behavioral disorders are mental health conditions that tend to develop in childhood or adolescence which cause a young person to engage in inappropriate behavior that ultimately leads to significant disruption in their lives and in the lives of those around them. Children and adolescents struggling with behavioral problems often display prolonged patterns of aggression, act disobediently towards authority figures, and causes disturbances in many different settings, including at school and at home. These problematic behaviors will cause a young person to be unable to establish healthy, meaningful relationships with friends and family leading to a life full of social isolation and rejection. In addition to social challenges, behavioral disorders can put a child or adolescent at an increased chance for the development of mental health conditions in adulthood. If the disruptive and inappropriate symptoms of a behavioral disorder are not properly treated, parents run the risk of having their child develop a number of ill effects that, in some instances, have the potential to be life-threatening.
