Serenity Program

Appropriate referrals for Serenity include “high-risk” adjudicated female adolescents, aged 12-19 (with appropriate extended jurisdiction, 21) that display all or some of the following behaviors:

  • Behavioral Challenges
  • Truancy from home and/or school
  • Trauma from physical and/or sexual abuse victimization
  • Alcohol and/or other drug usage
  • Serious Emotional Disturbances
  • Delinquent Behavior
  • Self-mutilation/Suicidal attempts
  • Physical and verbal aggression
  • Promiscuous behaviors
  • Unsuccessful interventions (community or residential)

pregnant teenagers with emotional problemsOur mission will be to assist in preparing young women for their future, therefore improving the chances of their successful return to the community, and adaption to a healthy and safe lifestyle.

Serenity accepts pregnant teens and develops treatment plans including childbirth preparation, childcare education, healthcare and nutrition. Appropriate family/caregiver support will be encouraged. We will link teen mothers to services in the community upon release to assist in supporting their pregnancy or parenthood.
